Individual applications for licenses

In considering a license application to use water, a responsible authority may require from the applicant:
An environmental assessment by a competent person, of the likely effect of the proposed license on the resource quality. [It must comply with Environmental conservation Act 1989 (No. 73 of 1989) Section 26]
An independent review of the environmental assessment by a person acceptable to the responsible authority.
(the above is for the applicants account)

The responsible authority may conduct its own investigation on the likely effect of the proposed license on the protection, use, development, conservation, management and control of the water resource.
