ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT REGULATIONS AND ADMINISTRATIVE GUIDELINES

The general environmental policy being GN51/15428/32 of 21 January 1994 determined a general policy for environmental governance that at this stage must be regarded as having guideline value. It was declared in terms of section 2 of the Act.

A further general environmental dealing terrestrial and marine protected areas was determined in terms of section 2 in GN449/15726/1 of 9 May 1994. It contains an internationally accepted framework for nature conservation.

R1182 Regulation Gazette 5999, No. 18261 of 5 September 1997 in terms of section 21 of the Act. R1182 lists the identified activities. In Schedule 1, paragraph 1(i), (j), (k) and in Schedule 17 important water-related aspects are dealt with. (The EIA for these purposes must be done according to R1183 of the same date).
